Asian Paints Creates Engaging Campaigns with Voice & SMS

Asian Paints is India’s leading and Asia’s third largest paint company. Founded in 1942, they currently operate in 16 countries and have 25 paint manufacturing facilities across the world, servicing consumers in over 65 countries.

Asian Paints’ Objective

Asian Paints is well known for their innovative marketing, memorable advertisements and customer engagement campaigns.

They had the following requirements:
• Make their campaigns more engaging by getting their customers to respond back and hence also generate leads.
• Keep customers informed of their purchases and purchase choices
• Secure customer transactions through addition authentication

The Karix Solution

To enable Asian Paints’ requirements, Karix provided a comprehensive suite of solutions that were SMS and Voice centric.                           

Karix provided Asian Paints with the SMS platform to send customers notifications and Promotional SMS messages. This platform was integrated with key applications within Asian Paints using APIs (Application Programming Interfaces). SMS messages were sent out to enable several key use cases.

  • Promotional messages and Campaigns: Asian Paints leveraged Karix to send promotional SMS to their target audience groups. Karix’s analytics provided Asian Paints with information that was used to re-target recipients. These recipients included their end-customers as well as partners such as wholesalers and retailers.
  • Transaction updates: Every transaction (order, order modification, payments, etc.) by a wholesaler or retailer would automatically trigger an SMS. The system was also configured to provide partners with regular updates on their orders.

A popular campaign involved the provision of mobile recharge (talk time) for limited customers, selected by Asian Paints. Once the customer dialed into a published number and entered their code, the recharge was processed for the number from which they dialed from.

Asian Paints also used ‘voice’ as a powerful tool to create engaging campaigns. A voice system for inbound and outbound calls was enabled. It was triggered via Virtual Mobile Numbers or Toll-Free Numbers. A custom IVR (Interactive Voice Response) flow for each voice campaign of Asian Paints was generated. An IVR is an automated telephony system that interacts with callers through the use of voice and keypad inputs.
