Rapido was facing a major challenge of expanding and engaging their network of driver partners while also reactivating the dormant users.

Rapido is an Indian bike taxi aggregator and logistics service provider based out of Bangalore and currently operating in over 100 cities. Customers can utilise Rapido’s service to reserve bike taxis for their daily commute or last mile deliveries. Since its inception in 2015, Rapido has come a long way to become the #1 choice of 10 million people in India solving the country’s intra-city commuting problems with their Bike Taxi service. Assuring safety, they provide economically priced rides for daily commute. As a brand and as a service, it is their constant endeavour to redefine themselves.

Rapido was looking to increase the number of driver partners because a larger driver network meant covering a larger geographical territory which would allow them to maximize their reach. At the same time, they also had to ensure that the drivers could be easily and quickly onboarded onto Rapido’s platform.

Other challenges that Rapido faced included keeping their existing driver partners engaged and reactivating the dormant segments.

Navigating through the challenges with help from Karix

Allowing a smooth onboarding of the driver partners who were also the users of the app was important and for this, Rapido integrated the onboarding process on one of the most effective and scalable platforms – WhatsApp, which is currently available in 12 major cities for bike taxi and last mile deliveries.

By updating the driver partner network’s incentive programmes on the WhatsApp platform, Rapido could keep them engaged throughout.

For all this, Karix supported the Rapido team in designing the interactive message templates in English as well as other vernacular languages. The Karix team also implemented Rich Media messaging and interactive buttons which further enriched the user experience on WhatsApp enabling Rapido to drive their users to the app for downloads or to capture their feedback.

For reviving the inactive segment of the driver network, Rapido intended to empower them and protect their privacy by introducing a clear opt-out route to unsubscribe communications from the brand. As a result, Rapido was able to maintain its momentum in reaching out to the appropriate user demographic of the driver network.

Along with this, Rapido also ran a conversational campaign on WhatsApp for their customers in order to increase bookings from them particularly during the festive season. This allowed the customer to interact with the business in a natural, user-friendly, and intuitive manner.

Empowering through a suite of engagement solutions

Rapido was able to effectively engage with their driver partners thanks to Karix’s deployment of WhatsApp Business Platform. Rapido saw a 60%-70% increase in the number of people who engaged with the brand on WhatsApp. An increase of 52% in application downloads from their driver partners was seen and there was a 56% re-activation among the dormant driver partner segments.
