IT Network Engineer - II

1. Server Installation, Configuration & Hardware Monitoring & Maintenance

·       Rack, stack, and cable physicalservers in data center environments.

·       Install and configure server hardware(Dell, HP, Lenovo, Cisco UCS, etc.).

·       Perform BIOS/firmware updates andconfigure RAID/storage controllers.

·       Install operating systems (Linux,Windows Server) and hypervisors (VMware ESXi).

·       Monitor server health using toolslike iDRAC, HP iLO, or Lenovo XClarity.

·       Replace faulty components (RAM,HDD/SSD, power supplies, fans).

·       Maintain inventory of server hardwareand spares.

·       Schedule and perform preventivemaintenance.

·       Diagnose hardware issues andcoordinate with vendors for RMA or support.

·       Respond to alerts and incidentsrelated to physical server failures.

·       Work with network and storage teamsto resolve infrastructure issues.

·       Implement access controls and auditlogs for server access.

·       Maintain compliance withorganizational and regulatory standards (ISO, PCI-DSS).

·       Generate reports on server uptime,performance, and incidents.

·       Collaborate with IT teams forcapacity planning and hardware lifecycle management.

2. Linux Administration

·       Install, configure, and maintainLinux servers (Red Hat).

·       Perform system updates, patching, andkernel upgrades.

·       Automate tasks using scriptinglanguages (Bash, Python, Perl).

·       Monitor system performance andtroubleshoot OS-level issues.

·       Harden Linux systems by configuringfirewalls, SELinux, auditd, and secure SSH practices.

·       Monitor logs and system activity forsuspicious behaviour.

·       Ensure patch compliance and secureconfigurations across all Linux distributions.

·       Manage user accounts, permissions,and security policies.

3. VMware Administration

·       Manage VMware vSphere environmentsincluding ESXi hosts and vCenter (distributed switch & standard switch).

·       Ensure compliance with security andperformance standards.

·       Deploy, configure, and monitorvirtual machines.

·       Perform capacity planning andresource allocation.

·       Apply patches and firmware upgradesto VMware infrastructure.

·       Secure vSphere environments includingESXi hosts and vCenter.

·       Implement role-based access control(RBAC), secure VM templates, and encrypted vMotion.

·       Conduct configuration reviews andvulnerability scans on virtual infrastructure.

·       Ensure compliance with security andperformance standards 2.

4. Storage Management

·       Administer SAN/NAS storage systems(Dell EMC).

·       Provision and optimize storagevolumes and arrays.

·       Implement and manage backup andrecovery solutions.

·       Monitor storage performance andconduct regular audits.

·       Ensure compliance with dataprotection standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).

·       Document configurations and storagepolicies.

 5. SAN Switch Administration

·       Configure and manage SAN switches(Brocade).

·       Perform zoning, provisioning, andtroubleshooting.

·       Monitor SAN fabric health andperformance.

·       Support firmware upgrades andpatching.

·       Monitor storage traffic and auditlogs for anomalies.

·       Ensure compliance with dataprotection standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).

·       Collaborate with vendors for supportand escalations 3.

WhatYou’d Have?
‍

Certifications: VMware Certified Professional (VCP),Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), CompTIA Storage+, ITIL (preferred).

Strongunderstanding of virtualization, storage protocols (iSCSI, NFS, SMB), andnetworking basics.

SkillsRequired:

·       Linux OS (Red Hat)

·       VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter

·       SAN/NAS technologies

Scripting: Bash, Shell & PowerShell

Backup& Recovery Tools

·       System monitoring and performancetuning.

·       SAN switch configuration andtroubleshooting.

·       Hands-on experience with serverhardware (Dell, HP, Lenovo, Cisco UCS).

·       Familiarity with server monitoringtools and remote management interfaces.

·       Basic understanding of networking,storage, and virtualization.
