Star’s foray into the digital space has been made even more remarkable with the launch of Hotstar, India’s first premium destination for digital content.

Keeping in view the dynamism of the media and entertainment sector, the television industry often faces the challenge of finding newer ways to attract larger viewership and keep the audience engaged.

The small screen viewers can no longer be regarded as mere spectators of the content that is broadcast on television instead they have become active participants & involved in the journey of the content on their preferred programs. This is most prevalent in the reality TV format.

Karix has provided a voting and polling application via pre-call notification (missed call services) to Star TV for its various reality TV shows like Nach Baliye, Dance+ & Dil Hai Hindustani.

The viewers act as influencers for what happens to their favorite contestant or participant on the show by supporting and voting for them. The voting is enabled through toll free numbers or virtual numbers with a pre-recorded acknowledgement voice message to thank the viewer once they cast their vote. The flexibility to define logic flows like restricting 1 vote per viewer per contestant have been built-in, in our voice application.

The application also handles the restriction of voting lines being open during specific time slots as demanded by the show.

In order to optimize the voting experience for Star TV and its viewers, Karix has a dedicated capacity of over 2,00,000 missed calls per minute provided for their popular shows like Dance+ and Nach Baliye. Additionally, real-time voting results are provided over the reporting UI to Star TV.
